I therefore move that we shift King's Birthday to late August.

Furthermore, I propose that KB receive the Hot British Dinner mantle so often and so uncomfortably worn by Christmas. Roast meat for the omnivores, a roast veg extravaganza for the vegetarians & vegans, Yorkshire pud and gravy for everyone, with a sweet and stodgy pudding to follow, possibly brandied and on fire for added good cheer.

August KB traditions could also include log fires, mulled drinks, and - in honour of the King's ecological interests - the planting of a tree*, the browsing of a garden catalogue, or suchlike horticultural activity.

Plant a double-grafted tree. Die? Have a tree planted on your grave. Te Aranga, Matariki, Labour Day, win the lottery, get a great job, ditch a bad job, or vote an unpopular government out of office? That's right - trees.
