The recent, somewhat stupid, issue in the 1Password extension made me take a look at Proton Pass. I really like that it's a European provider, with its own servers (no AWS 🎉), and sort of a not-for-profit background. But unfortunately it can't quite replace 1Password for me (yet?).

So, I haven’t used my #Linux machine in roughly a year.
I booted it up and remembered my encryption password. 👍
But I can’t remember my login password. 👎Apparently I was not smart enough to save this in my #Bitwarden or #ProtonPass #passwordmanager 🙄
Did by chance save it in my old OneNote password notebook? Maybe. But I also can’t remember that password and also didn’t save that one in a pw manager

Un gestionnaire de mot de passe m’est vraiment utile. C'est un des très rare soft avec Fastmail, pour lequel il n'est pas question de m’affranchir d'un abonnement.

#Bitwarden et #ProtonPass le font très bien. L'un comme l'autre ont leurs avantages.
Bitwarden fait parfois la bêtise de mettre le mot de passe en clair dans la barre de navigation de Safari sur MacOs, mais il gère très bien le reste pour un prix imbattable (10$ par an, et il existe une version gratuite).

Mais pour ma part je vais rester avec #1password qui fait tout parfaitement et légèrement. C'est certes plus cher, mais tellement confortable. Et leur service client est au rendez-vous. J'ai ainsi pu migrer toutes mes datas d'un serveur US vers un serveur européen avec leur aide, en très peu de temps.

Comme j'ai une licence à vie de #ProtonPass, je le garde en spare. Au quotidien en effet, il n'est pas très souple et manque de discrétion. L’omniprésence d'un gestionnaire de mot de passe n'est en effet pas souhaitable pour ma part.

I tried a few different options. I like #vivaldibrowser, except it can't read aloud in iOS. I don't like browsers knowing my passwords.

I'm a #ProtonPass user, though #BitWarden is free and a very good choice. If you're paranoid, you can even host it yourself.
