Francis Grimke, DC Presbyterian minister, cites many social ills, from slavery, pauperism, crime, and war. Must the church do nothing? Is there not even a duty to “save them that do wrong”? Grimke says that men of his day tell him it would be safer 2B quiet.
Sometimes, folks rebut social problems saying “no, a sin problem”. But Grimke would say the sins need pulpit time.
