Alongside contemporaries such as Curtis Mayfield, it can be argued that the album laid the groundwork for the progression of soul (no pun intended) and R&B throughout the '70s. From the powerful "Higher Ground" and "Golden Lady", to the evocative "Living For The City" and "All Love Is Fair", 'Innervisions' is an album of compelling brilliance that is difficult to set aside in my opinion. Oh, and remarkably, most, if not all, of the instruments were played by Wonder himself on this record (again)!
