Watching #ProCycling in Flanders today:

giro d'Italia Uomo:
1: VPN into NZL
2: find the live feed on YouTube
3: make sure the army of ad blockers and Pihole is working

Giro d'Italia Donne:
1: watch Sporza

In Flanders there might be more eyeballs on women's racing than on men's racing today. That would be a first (I think). The only downside is that I really like Ned Boulting and Jacopo Guarnieri as a commentator duo on the men's side and that it's a boring sprintstage in the women's side.

The 2027 #TdU is running mens and womens stages on the same day, with the women's 90 minutes after the men's. They're selling it as a gender equality measure.

But it isn't. It's a money saving measure, as it's cheaper to run an event for 7 days instead of 2 events over 10 days. It short changes women's TV coverage, as they will not get their event covered in full. It still only runs a 3 day event for the women vs than 7 days for the men.

Perfect example of spinning a money saving story into a false gender equality story.

World first Santos Tour Down Under merger to make cycling history...

The Santos Tour Down Under (TDU) is set to make history as the first WorldTour race to hold men’s and women’s stages on the same course on the same day and over the same distance next year. In the most significant development to the race program in the event’s 26-year history, the TDU will run both men’s and women’s stages concurrently when the 2027 edition is held from January 19-24 (subject to final UCI calendar approval).
