I'm down to just a tiny little section of my former stoma site on my abdomen now that needs to close. It's otherwise all fully healed up.
It's kind of weird now to think how I regularly shat into a bag for about 15 months whilst I had my stoma.
I've got entirely used to going to the loo via the regular method again. I don't even think about it much now.

The last thing remaining is my former stoma site.
It started off as 7 cm wide by 4 cm tall by 3 cm deep.
There's now just a tiny area that has yet to heal over.

Received a letter today from the NHS surgeon who did my recent operation to reverse my stoma.
"In the course of the reversal of your Hartmann's, I removed your appendix and am pleased to say the histopathology report has shown no sinister features."
This is the first I've heard that they removed my appendix!
I guess at least I can't get appendicitis now π€£
My recovery is continuing to go really well.
I've still got the dressing over the drain site and over the former stoma site (open wound that needs to close naturally), but I no longer need a dressing where the abdomen incision was made, as it's entirely knitted.
I'd honestly forgotten the joy of not having a stoma, as I can now fully pull up knickers, leggings, tights etc. without causing issues to a stoma bag π₯°
I'm probably going to be posting regular updates about my recovery from my stoma reversal surgery (reversal of Hartmann's procedure / proctosigmoidectomy) for a while, but I'll keep it all behind content warnings.

All checked in and awaiting consultants to come round to go through medical stuff and get me to sign consent forms.
I've already gone through the stuff and signed consent with the anaesthetist.
I'm now in the awkward waiting stage, sitting in a surgery gown and knickers.

I'm heading into hospital at 0900 and hoping to get into surgery by or around noon. The surgery itself should hopefully be done within about 3 hours.
I am a mixture of anxious and excited right now.

OMFG!
I've just been offered a reversal operation for my #ProctoSigmoidEctomy (which gave me my #stoma) on 27th December!!!
LET'S FUCKING GOOOOOOOOO!!!
It'll mean being in hospital for the chill part of the festive season, but I'm honestly okay with this if it means saying goodbye to the stoma and getting back normal arse / bowel functionality π
I am literally squeeing and shaking with excitement right now!!!
For those who don't already know, I had to have an emergency proctosigmoidectomy (Hartmann's procedure) in September 2022.
I was meant to be offered a reversal surgery this September, but due to NHS waiting lists, all I was told was that it wouldn't be this year π
I chased them up politely and have been advised that tenuously I *might* be offered a reversal surgery sometime in January to March 2024 π₯Ίπ€

It is very much a trap, albeit a delicious one π
Very much nearly blew out my bag overnight from the gas alone, and it filled up entirely with gas and very liquidy waste this morning once I got up.
