Frank Short, late 19th century print artist, produced a very significant body of work, some of which was intentional and openly declared as copies of the work of JMW Turner, an early 19th century painter and print artist. Their lives only overlapped by 6 years, and I don't have any reason to think that they met. Why did Short do so many copies of Turner?
