Nintendo has issued a warning today for people not to use the Pretendo Network as it may pose unexpected security risks.

This isn't really a big deal, but I'm sharing it over here to point out a few things since people seem to be a bit concerned whether this post will affect @pretendo or not.
- Nintendo has known about Pretendo since at least December 2023 so it isn't a new thing: https://www.reddit.com/r/DataHoarder/comments/1bejk7e/comment/kuuf06r/

- We believe this is from some users contacting customer support for help with Pretendo issues: see above

🇵🇸Just worked on researching how to get #NAT type information on #WiiU and #3DS consoles. It's not quite complete yet, but from analysis from 4 different people (that includes myself) and different networks, I think it should be mostly complete.
It's important to have a NAT type of A or B if you want to play online multiplayer in a game like #Splatoon, so I would highly recommend checking it out if you're having connectivity issues on #PretendoNetwork.

Before I begin, I would like to thank @piplupness and @PN_quarky for helping me test this, as well as some initial information posted by @numerofoxtheglaceon_ on Pretendo’s Discord server. I initially started working on this after information was very vague on how to decode a code that the Connection Test outputs, all I had to go from when I started was a message on a Wii homebrew forum. News / Pretendo Network: You can now StreetPass your 3DS friends from anywhere in the world!
Have you had trouble finding anyone to #StreetPass for Happy Home Showcase in New Leaf?
If you have, the team at @pretendo have just made it easier! With the latest version of Nimbus (which allows you to connect to the network), you're now able to StreetPass people online from anywhere in the world!
However, it's not that simple. Due to the buggy implementation of StreetPass for some games, you'll only be able to StreetPass people you've friended on your console (well that's 0 for me). It makes use of a feature called StreetPass Relay which was used at Nintendo Zones which allowed you to upload your data and download others.
I think I'll just stick to real StreetPasses for now though (I got 3 in the last year). Anyone reading from the South West or West Midlands?
