Over the years I’ve oscillated between reading quite a bit and reading not much at all. Lately I’ve been trying to read a lot more and the book I’m currently reading is called “System Error: Where Big Tech Went Wrong and How We Can Reboot”. Well while escorting my wife to a doctor’s appointment this morning I read a chapter that I found particularly striking as it spends most of it’s time dissecting this famous Donald Knuth quote:
time required to carefully measure and pleat two sleeves: X¹
time required to:
a) pin an approximation of the pleating pattern on half of one sleeve, to see whether it fits
b) make a custom pleating board with a precise version of said pleating pattern
c) pleat two sleeves using said pleating board
probably at least 4 × X, if not more.
Can you guess which option I've just chosen?
Can you guess that I'm a programmer? :D
¹ I don't know exactly know how much it would be, but I'd estimate a few tens of minutes

Azure essaie d'économiser des bouts de chandelle en virant quelques fichiers des images de VM #Kubernetes AKS pour gagner de la place disque. Bilan les images ne marchent plus avec les GPU #NVIDIA les plus récents (les H100 par exemple).
