Lifestyle | Foodie | Family | Bryony on Instagram: "Happy due date, Dottie Lennox!🌹 Thought I'd make a soppy labour video while I'm sleep deprived and filled with post partum hormones! I was induced early for several reasons but it was definitely the right call as she's thrived out the womb - feeding about every two hours and growing! I had the Foley balloon induction method plus hormone drip and sweep. After the sweep I passed out, wasn't the best experience having the waters broke with a rod and then a hand up there! Everyone's experience is different - my other children were over due (so I've never had an earlier one) and I had 2 previous inductions and sweeps but I think every pregnancy is different and I'm older than I was! I've also been on blood thinner injections post birth which are savage. I had a cannula which had 3 different things going into it - the hormones, electrolytes and antibiotics to prevent strep B. Labour induction wasn't going great, to the point it was almost an emergency c-section due to cord compression/cord wrapped round the neck and she was born needing some CPAP assistance and a hot cot for a day, plus having her bloods monitored due to my gestational diabetes - however, all was well and we were allowed to go home. I have my bloods tested in about 2 weeks to see if I've developed type 2 diabetes and will have my bloods done once a year to monitor it. She weighed 2306g (rounded up to 5lb 1oz) and was only on the 1.1 centile - and 46 1/2cm! Born VE day (8th May) at 11.14am. My mum was there to deliver the baby which was a beautiful moment and also delivered the placenta - she has always been the best labour partner but having her there to deliver my baby meant the world (for context she is a midwife) oh and my placenta - I decided to take that home and plant under a new rose plant 🙈 I don't know why. It felt symbolic somehow. My family came to visit and I did gender reveal cookies prior which was fun to make plus did all colour themed sweets to give to the kids when they came to pick us up from hospital plus got the kids little gifts - it's been an adjustment with 3 kids and a newborn but we will slowly get there."

From pregnancy tests, to first scans, to second scans, to first trimester to second trimester and now I'm in the third trimester! Not finding out the gender so been picking lots of gender neutral outfits - I have a brand new pram and car seat, sorting out nappies/water wipes, moses basket, next-to-me-cot, bath washes - I just need to get some bottles as I plan to combine feed boob & bottle (all being well) sort hospital bags, chose a baby formula etc! My house is too small for a nursery so I need to get my arse into gear and make space in the house but that nesting instinct hasn't really kicked in yet 🙈 I've been experiencing pre-natal depression the last few months also hence being MIA but also working and dealing with the 3 kids I already have. The last three weeks have been challenging since being diagnosed with gestational diabetes - having to do finger prick tests before meals/an hour after meals depending on the day and watch what I eat, regular meals and meal planning is something I find a challenge. I had an extra scan a week ago and was told they think the baby will be small and I have a scan next week to double check the growth of the baby (and check the placenta) but I don't feel worried because my first baby was only 6lb 4 but my second was 9lb 3oz so I don't think the scans can ever correctly predict the size - as long as the placenta is doing its job (minus being able to 'manage' insulin) then I'm happy with that. It'll be a little sugar baby! After birth they have to monitor the baby to ensure baby can manage its own glucose levels and I'll be potentially induced a week early (which I'm not mad about as my others were all overdue and induced) I've spoken to a few mothers who have experienced this plus also experiencing type 2 diabetes after or also completely recovering from it once the placenta was out. I love to know other people's stories on their births, pregnancy and if they had gestational diabetes - currently just trying to take day by day. Hope you're all doing OK grid people!"

So, here's to the second trimester and celebrating what my body can do!"

Anomaly blood tests came back and all is well 🤞- although I haven't been very well the last few weeks - think the older you get with work, kids and general adulthood the exhaustion is real! Currently loving anything on toast, very baggy leggings and gipping on air. Room extensions pending. Hope you're all well, I know I've been MIA."
