Yesterday's dive in #newquay The prawn has a compound eye with visual units (ommatidia) connecting to the optic nerve. Overlying the ommatidia is the cuticle with is modified to act as a cornea and is thickened to form numerous square facets. These eyes have neither distant nor sharp vision but they do detect movement and has a 360 degree coverage.
