Using the rogue communication devices to skirt firewalls and switch off inverters remotely, or change their settings, could destabilise #powergrids, damage #energy infrastructure, and trigger widespread #blackouts, experts said. In positive news, Greenlink the 500 MW HVDC interconnect between Ireland and Wales went online less than a week ago on 29 January 2025.

For reference, Ireland have two other interconnects to the UK, which each are also 500 MW.

Right now Ireland is importing 361 MW via Greenlink https://www.smartgriddashboard.com/#all/interconnection .

Hopefully next year the 700 MW Celtic Interconnector between Ireland and France should be operational increasing capacity even more.
