Pulled out my spare #superfamicom so I can make it into my all in one #snes. Got a new shell from #aliexpress because it has a North American cart slot. Now I can just use my #famicom #powersupply and play all my #jpn & #usa carts with the superior looking translucent shell.

One of my #servers in my #proxmox cluster sometimes refuses to boot with POST errors like "CPU undervolt error" and "onboard surge protection triggered to guard against faulty power supply." I have no idea whether I can trust that. So, i went looking for #atx #powersupply testers. I found this beauty: https://www.passmark.com/products/inline-psu-tester/index.php . In an article, Keith Monahan describes how he converted a standard 50 Watt power supply unit, which costs around 50 euros, so that he can use it as a replacement power supply unit for his Amiga 500. The model used was the GP50A13D-R1B from Meanwell.

The #powersupply seems dead. I have other two, so I tried them. One was dead (as written, in italian, on the label), and one turned on the computer but no "bong" from the speaker. And the fan seemed a little more noisy than I remembered, so I checked the voltages and... holy cow 20v! I immediately disconnected it, hope not to have caused further damage. There was no #magicsmoke, only some fishy smell typical of the #capacitors #electrolyte. Not surprising, considered they have leaked.

And here is the #StackSynth power supply board done. It provides dual rail +/- 12 Volt from 12 Volt AC. Stable for at least 300 mA. The diodes D1 and D2 get a bit warm, though. I'll have to see how it performs with my modules attached.
Again, boards were manufactured by @aislerhq and arrived together with the VCA.
My StackSynth tower is almost finished so far. There will be a Noise module coming and maybe I'll add another LFO.
