It was a challenge. A though challenge, even after having trained before - 42 km by foot, wandering through the night and simulating a jetlag afterwards: Fighting your inner self is always a battle but going over the finishing line at 05:15 am on a Sunday morning was a divine experience that must be repeated!

Thanks to the team of the Mammutmarsch for organizing this great and professional event that helped me to learn some new aspects of myself and taught me that even if the body gets tired, the will keeps you going. Always!

Art is everywhere - and even decorates the old pithead buildings that used to shape the scenery we know from the whole Ruhr Area. And despite most houses look rather old, there is place for decent art everywhere, putting great images in urban landscapes.

The Ruhr Area isn't the most beautiful area in Germany but it was made of coal and with lots of emotions. For someone who was born in the "Ruhrpott", people say "You can get the boy out of the area but never the area out of the boy" - and this is what I feel each time I return. 🖤

Heading on the "Nachtmammut" this August, my howntown #Bottrop was next and another iconic landmark of the Ruhr Area there is the #Tetraeder. Although having lost most of its lighting over the years (repair, anyone), this emblem rules over my hometown where may grandparents (may they rest in peace!) used to live. Venturing this area was quite emotional for me as it turned out to be a - somehow - "Goodbye" to the town where I was born.
