In April 1804, a meteorite landed at High Possil in Glasgow. This was the first one ever recorded in Scotland, and one of the first to be scientifically verified as coming from space anywhere in the world. As a result, this event, along with a few others around the same time, can be seen as marking the start of interplanetary science and an accurate understanding of the origins of our solar system.
