Cover-up (2).

Starting another infrared series (mini one actually), and this time using myself as a "model" (ahem) and with some changes in the settings. This time, I've used a 87C gel filter on the flash itself, and shooting with IR850 filter on lens - so double infrared filters here. The good thing about having infrared filter on the flash is that I don't have to worry about the strong light and being blinded (and can easily shoot with open eyes).
I'm still in the process of sorting thru the images but seems the success rate is quite low!
Here in this one, after many contrast additions, you can see probably one broad line on the back of my palm (just under the index and arching down) - I believe this is a vein. There could be few fine lines on the temple and beside the eye, they could be fine veins as well; not sure.

Stimulus

Mixed media portrait from 2020 I believe. I had a fun time making the foam texture for this one.

Posting a bit early today as I feel a bit down and I need to lie down for some time.
Still with my brother's infrared shot and this time for his head. You can probably see those dark lines or patches, which I suppose are veins. However, he also has skin issues so I'm not sure if those are real vein lines or just skin texture! Of course, again, I had to go with extreme contrast processing to emphasize such lines.

瞑想 (2).

Another one in the series (and actually not in order), and here also some veins can be seen under the eye a bit and on the temple or above the eye. They appear more like birth marks than veins, but trust me those are veins 😬
According to whatever info I could find, the contrast would be natural and the veins would be clearer if the skin was fair. Unfortunately, we don't have this here 😐
I need to play a bit more with the f-number or aperture to see if this proves significant.

瞑想.

I've been wanting to do this experiment for some long time and finally did even though the results didn't match my expectations. The experiment is about showing the veins under the skin using infrared photography. I did have some trials long time ago but it wasn't as expected either.
Here, I've grabbed my brother (my usual victim) and made a shot using my Neewer IR850 (threshold = 850nm) infrared filter (and of course a modified camera). I've actually made shots of myself first but it's hard to keep things in order so I had to ask my brother for this.
The veins show but quite faint (a little better in the original size when zoomed at 100%). It required a drastic processing aimed at increasing the "local contrast". With some sharp observation you might be able to identify some faint veins in the forehead, and of course those two lines under the eyes. What makes this trend harder is the skin type and the lighting in use - I've used my 580EXII speedlite here (which is optimum for IR photography) but seems it's not optimum for this type of IR photography specifically. I'm trying to dig more information to see if results can be enhanced somehow.
