The portrait painting/drawing sessions at the dekaai festival in #Nijmegen have started again. It’s always a long sitting with brakes and the sitter may take one of the works home as payment. I think i like a lot of aspects of my start onto this year’s season. Though children are not my favorite subject in portraits. I prefer to have face with some lived experience etched into them.

I tried to carefully plan my current large painting and execute it all alla prima, but I eventually realized that strictly following a set plan just isn't how it feels good. I went back to a small practice canvas to follow my old intuition how to paint and just let the paint do its own thing.
