David AllanSpotted this ancient cast iron (I'm guessing) pulley wheel, on the side of a building while on holiday in Cornwall.
The wheel's diameter was around 30cm and appears to have always been in this fixed position against the wall.
The walls of the building in the fishing village of Porthleven are built from local granite and the object is totally rusted and seized up.
Unable to fathom out what it may have been used for and thinking it maybe had something to do with the building's original use.
The property is currently a ladies clothes shop but it must have been an awful long time ago since this device was last employed.
Walked past it numerous times and decided on this occasion, it was worth capturing with my camera.
