Our workshop in Nairobi supported how Somalis understand their population.
WorldPop helped strengthened the capacity of participants from the Somalia National Bureau of Statistics and United Nations Population Fund Somalia Country Office to use geospatial data and Bayesian methods to produce high-resolution population estimates.
A step change for planning, health, and beyond.

The number of elected members in Andhra Pradesh's urban local bodies will now be set by population size, based on the 2011 Census. This means some wards might have more or fewer representatives than before.

We’re saying thank you and farewell to Olayinka Oke from Nigeria’s National Population Commission after a highly impactful secondment at WorldPop.
From advancing Bayesian spatial methods to developing hybrid population models, her contributions will continue to shape work in data-constrained settings.
We look forward to future collaboration 👏🌍

WorldPop visited the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre (JRC), meeting with the Global Human Settlement Layer (GHSL), Demography, and Urban & Territorial Analysis teams.
We explored opportunities to improve comparability, reduce duplication, and strengthen harmonised global population and settlement data.
Looking forward to continued collaboration.

📢 WorldPop has appointed a new strategic Advisory Board.
The board brings together international experts in AI, demography, geospatial science and development policy to help guide our research and ensure our population data continues to deliver real-world impact - especially across low- and middle-income countries.
Together, we remain committed to counting everyone in decision-making.
