"If a doctor heard the kind of metrical irregularity you get in iambic pentameter in your lub-dubs, you’d be in critical care.”

10 Reasons Why the Iambic Pentameter is Not Like the Human Heartbeat

On an idea about poetry that needs to die

And like all good internet rabbit holes, I discovered that the #texteditor I'm looking for -- the one that does #scansion of #poeticmeter -- EXISTS! And is called Versepad:

Write - Versepad

It turns out the correct term for what I was asking for is #scansion of #poeticmeter, and yes, there is an AI that does this!

I found this handy online scansion editor at http://www.logical.ai/arma/ and plugged in a verse from "Paragraph President" by the mighty #Blackalicious, results in the screenshot. Success!

There must be an #API for this, so any #developer thinking of making a #rhyming #texteditor for #poets, #lyricists, and #songwriters could call on that.

Just had a chance to challenge #ChatGPT to analyze the #poeticmeter of some random song lyrics. It did a good job, but wrote ABOUT THEM (like a term paper) rather than producing a set of [ accent -rest] "feet" for the lyrics (which is what I really wanted). Still pretty impressive.

Anyone know if there's an #AI that can analyze the #poeticmeter of writing? Remember this stuff from HS English class?

I am a #musician, and would like to be able to write #lyrics in a #texteditor that can analyze the meter as I write, and/or have it analyze the meter of words already written.

This generated meter could be output as #MIDI data and fed into, say, a drum machine or #synthesizer to come up with rhythms that complement the lyrics.
