Hedra Rowan:
Hedra Rowan is a computer musician in Chicago. She runs Bodymilk, a concert series and tape label. In addition to solo work, she plays with the band Bimbo Rococo, and the duos Tallulah Bankheist, Hell & the High School, and Squonk. For this set, she will improvise computer sounds on 16 channels.
NuAm:
Origins found in cassette tape loop installations of feedback drone-movement, masks of altered sound, and the hum of a pink horizon.

Tina LaFauve:
Tina Lefauve is a Chicago-based
experimental sound artist, motorcycle enthusiast, and “Agitator Gallery landlady” known for her noise busking and performances with the Chicago Noise Free Jazz Orchestra.
Melon Sprout:
Melon Sprout (Chicago) makes amplified ceramic instruments, and electrifies them in high energy performances. Melon and the ceramic are pushed to a sonic and material limit, often leaving both in pieces.
Nicole Alonso:
Nicole Alonso blends sampling, field recordings, electronic manipulation, and live performance to explore themes of space, memory, and identity.

Just as much of a 'return to the roots' an album as their last, but this time in the #Breakbeat, #Plunderphonic side of things. Most of this isn't much removed from whatever you'd have heard out of the Ninja Tune camps half a decade prior, some of the samples very obvious and well-worn by the late #90s.
Still, Hardfloor work a funky, soulful groove just as fine as anyone, and their odd #Acid solos helps give this album their own identity.

I hadn't put out an issue of This Week in Sound in a few months, but managed one last Friday, then this Tuesday, and now today, which happens to be April 14th, or "Avril 14th" to Aphex Twin fans. Today's issue has three items: select covers of that now classic song; a distinction in anxiety around AI as it pertains to music; and a review of a recent documentary about the band Negativland.
