The world would be a lot less interesting if all we see is what we are told to see. Maybe that’s what I love about painting and painters I love, that there’s a layer of reality that that’s hidden and it takes some prompting to discover.

So for this piece, what caught my eyes was the interaction between the water and the low hanging tree branches - I think I managed to capture the feeling there just a little ☺️

Really like the tree x water on this one after it has sunken in a bit. It was interesting painting this one on location next to the Ponte Vecchio. Some tourist came by and said disparagingly why i would paint “something like this 🫩” pointing at the other bridges and it took me a second to remember that not a lot of people can see the beauty and intrigue in things that the masses denoted as ordinary. 1/2 🧵
