I stand corrected. It seems that those apps will use the API on a login. I had two apps that I was logged in on my old phone. They would work and continue to work, even with Play Integrity API access blocked.

However, I cannot log in to those apps on my new phone, regardless of blocking the API or not.

I hope this isn't a trend or something.

Running @GrapheneOS on my phone. The other day, an app, that made use of the Play Integrity API, ceased to work for no apparent reason. At one point, I simply blocked API usage attempts, which magically fixed the app again.

Being curious, I blocked all other apps that were in the list of apps that use Play Integrity API.

Not a single one of them ceased to work afterwards.

Made me wonder what that API is being NEEDED for in the first place.

@tizlit Diese Meldungen gibt es schon länger. Meine Kreditkarten PIN app läuft z. B. nicht aus dem aurorastore installiert, ebenso die anker solix app.

Na stronie GrapheneOS pojawiła się nowa sekcja z listą aplikacji, które celowo odmawiają działania pod tymże systemem. Są to aplikacje, które sprawdzają kompatybilność z zależnym od Google 'Play Integrity API' (zamiast bezpieczniejszej sprzetowej atestacji androida) i w przypadku jego braku odmawiają uruchomienia. Twórcy GOS zachęcają do pozostawienia w sklepie Play adekwatnych opinii.

Maaaaa quindi la comunità di #grapheneos #lineageos #murena #firephone #iodeos ecc si stanno limitando a dire mi spiace non puoi usare l'app perché utilizza #playintegrityapi oppure stanno facendo qualcosa 🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️ perché prendere un dispositivo e poi ritrovarsi senza app bancarie o statali lo rende pressoché inutile!!

Only today I discovered that the #Lyca Germany app and My AXA app refuse to run without Google's Play Integrity API. Is there anything, apart from writing the developers, that can be done technically?
