UPDATE: Giant ragweed, which can get 16' tall. Not what I want in my basil planter.
Plant folks, what is this volunteer growing in one of my planters? #PlantID #WhatIsThis #plants

I call this stuff "sawgrass" because it's extremely sharp. You can walk past it, not even realize you brushed up on it, and then discover your legs are covered in long cuts.
It has red rhizomes (because it drinks your blood, I'm sure). I've never seen it flower. It grows in shallow soil and disturbed areas. These are in a tropical wet climate on Hawai'i Island.
Do you know what plant this is?

It’s a #native #Amazon #rainforest #tree growing in the region of Badass Fruiterrarist Land in far western #Amazonia near Sumaco National Park. We’re confident that it’s a #Solanum species, but which one? The #fruit is like something between Solanum betaceum (tree tomato) and Solanum quitoense (lulo/naranjilla), and it grows on a narrow but fairly tall tree at the edge of the forest (next to the road). > > https://gram.social/p/amazonrestore/967393381732994652 [https://gram.social/p/amazonrestore/967393381732994652]
Is there any way to tell what variety of fig I have (before it fruits)?
I am not OP; I am cross-posting for visibility. cross-posted from: https://lemmy.world/post/47649355 [https://lemmy.world/post/47649355] > I recently moved to a house with a rather overgrown fig. Over winter I pruned it back to a manageable size and since then it’s regrown a lot of branches and new figs. Some leaves are 3 lobes and some are 5. The ripest fig is getting purple on the bottom and is quite fat. If the fig fly didn’t get it first (I have it bagged now) I think it should be ready in a week or two. I don’t know a thing about the varieties except the names, not what their trees look like. I’m in the San Francisco Bay Area so a very mild climate. Any help, thanks!
It's been a while since I did the school drop-off, and in my absence, the Euc in question has begun to put on flower buds. Just another little clue along the road to a positive #plantID.
I've been trying to figure out what this tree is. I live in area 6 in upstate New York (more pictures in post)
