Looking at a random game #FandomWiki. It appears to have a bunch of cleanup tags that basically say "plagiarism from the books".
...oh, NOW they've somehow started worrying about plagiarism. 🤦🏻♀️
Back when I used to use Fandom more often, I found it pretty cringe that a lot of the editors in lots of wikis just copy-pasted the official source material to the site without a second though, or marking the sources, or even framing the stuff as quotes. This was *rampant.*
#Wikipedia curbed that sort of behaviour immediately, because, you know, it's a community of users with an ethos and stuff and quality is important. Fandom never cared because to the money men, the quality of the wiki content is irrelevant, they just need lots of it and have high SEO rankings. My guess is that *someone* got mildly antsy about liabilities.
Wikipedia recently announced that it is banning AI-generated work from its site. However, enforcing that policy is going to be tricky, even for Wikipedia.

Re generative AI, think there needs to be a whole new level of coypright, one that allows artists of any sort to charge AI companies hundreds of millions of dollars for the rights to use their work for training purposes.
