I went to a very interesting event about November's judicial elections in PA. When the PA Supreme Court makes a ruling based on the PA Constitution, that can NOT be appealed to the US Supreme Court. Our statewide courts are a critical protection of our abortion, union, and voting. They're protected our access to healthcare and funding for schools.
Voters often "undervote" -- they mark their ballot for the big races at the top, but as they get down to the the smaller ones near the bottom, they leave them blank. This is often because they don't know much about them.
If Democrats can (1) boost turnout, and (2) inform people enough to vote the entire ballot, then we can retain control of the PA Supreme Court, and our position on the Superior and Commonwealth courts.
In off-year elections like November, canvassing is REALLY effective -- more so than in presidential elections. Start talking to your friends about why & how to vote in November, and make a plan to canvass!
Can you set a goal of mentioning Retention to at least one person every day? As a treat?!
