Okay, the #PicoMEM is cool for early #IBM - #PC machines...

Das #picoMem Board von FreddyV - eine geniale Erfindung. Auf einem einzelnen #ISA #8Bit Steckplatz ersetzt es gleich mehrere andere Steckkarten und bringt meinen #Schneider #EuroPC ins Internet.

So, I'm after picking up the micro USB cables and micro USB OTG splitter cables I needed to get for the #PicoMEM cards, although I'm still trying to work out what the cheapest micro SD cards I can get that are compatible with them! I've decided that 32GB is definitely the best way to go in terms of storage, especially if I'm keeping a bunch of uncompressed floppy disk images on it! Yes, 32GB might be considered overkill for FD images, but at the same time, it's better to have too much space-
Not sure how possible it is, but I'd love to get Castle of The Winds running on my P8086s; if it's doable, I'd need Win3.1 B2, as it's the last ver to use Real Mode! Usually, x86 808x CPUs can only run up to Win3.0! Another thing I want to see is if you can use the #PicoMEM to boot up floppy imgs and enable the laptops to run PC Booter games! The cards can be used in newer systems, but I think that there's diminishing benefits above a 286, beyond loading floppy imgs & WiFi networking functions!
So, a couple of days ago, I picked up my new #PicoMEM cards, this time adding the sound board, as I realised that I needed to have Tandy/CMS capabilities for my Pocket 8086s, so they can be more contemporary with sound options. I'm aware that slimline versions are coming, so when they do come, I'm going to move those cards to the Book 8088 v1.0 & 2.0 that I have, as I want to make the P8086s a bit more portable! Additionally, I bought a #PicoGUS along with my first PicoMEM (no sound board) to-
I'm just after ordering 2 more #PicoMEM cards, although this time they each had the Adlib module, as I realised that for the 2x Pocket 8086s they'll be assigned to would benefit from the additional sound options, although OPL3 still trumps the Adlib option! I'm debating if I should get a #PicoGUS for them later on, but I'm not sure at present as I would need to see if there are many games that support the x86 808x CPUs and would also benefit from a Sound Blaster 1.0 card, especially given I'd-
