It's not the way that boiled eggs are supposed to taste, is it?

Does anyone's family out there have a pickled eggs recipe I should try? #food

Our chickens have been reliable layers. We've water glassed the excess but we have too many eggs in that basket. It's time for something else.

Not much achieving today, but I have at least restocked the pickled eggs so that DW can have her cold lunch while I have my hot noodle soups.

Edit: Since people are interested: the mixture is 2 cups of cider vinegar to 1 cup of water, with ½ teaspoon salt, ¼ teaspoon mustard seeds, and a small amount of sliced onion, just brought to a boil. Eggs into jar, pepper ground over it, hot mixture poured onto eggs (not glass!) and lid on. Or add your own herbs / spices to suit.

Into the fridge when the jar has cooled, or even leave it on the bench in cool weather.

When I go to the discount store, and see pickled eggs, I just can't resist my trans-Atlantic urges!

We grew up eating these at xmas time in the UK, and I guess it's another thing that doesn’t seem to have transplanted nearly so well in the US.

Easter is approaching! In our family this means #Soleier - pickled #eggs. 🤤
The brine we use consists of water, lots of salt, caraway seeds, mustard seeds, clovers, peppercorns, and bay leaves. The colour comes from onion skins. We don't peel the eggs, but crack the shells, which gives the eggs a lovely marbled look.

And this is how we eat them: cut the egg in half, take the yolk out, fill the egg white with vinegar, oil, mustard, salt, and pepper, put the yolk in your mouth and eat it together with the halved egg white.

Yes, #German #foods are weird. 🤭 It's not for everyone, but I love them.
