Rhodolith Biodiversity and Carbon Storage Research

New study identifies four coralline algae species, highlighting their critical role in marine biodiversity and long-term carbon sequestration.

Soil algae are highly diverse, adaptable microorganisms inhabiting the surface soils of arable land, contributing significantly to the global microbiome and Earth's total vegetation production.

Here is our latest #article, DOI: https://doi.org/10.1111/1758-2229.70290.

We systematically collected literature, and used network component analysis to map microalgal axenisation methods and identify antibiotic-free workflows. We could identify clear workflows for diatoms and dinoflagellates, but other #microalgae groups were poorly represented or the methods were sparsely used. We further present practical experiences and opinions from culture banks.

Yaay, new publication!
We use network component analysis to map microalgal axenisation methods and identify antibiotic-free workflows, with clear strategies for diatoms and dinoflagellates. The study highlights gaps in reporting and calls for stronger experimental validation.

Scientists Revive Organism Found Buried at Bottom of Ocean

The dormant algae cells remained buried at the bottom of the Baltic Sea for thousands of years, and made a full recovery once revived.
