Researchers from three leading U.S. universities have developed a revolutionary method to destroy cancer cells using light without drugs, chemotherapy, or invasive procedures. This breakthrough technique harnesses a specialized light-based process that targets malignant cells with precision, leaving surrounding healthy tissue unharmed.
In laboratory tests, the treatment achieved a remarkable 99% success rate, showing the potential to transform how cancer is treated in the future. Unlike traditional therapies that often cause severe side effects, this approach is minimally invasive, non-toxic, and far more selective.
Scientists believe this innovation could pave the way for safer, faster, and more effective cancer therapies, offering hope to millions of patients worldwide. If successfully scaled for clinical use, it may represent one of the most significant advances in oncology to date.
This discovery proves that light itself could become a powerful weapon in the fight against cancer ushering in a new era of precision medicine.

This the conclusion of a Harvard Brigham snd Women’s Hospital meta-analysis that reviewed 6 randomized trials with a total of 216 subjects aged 12 to 50 years. The results are now published in JAMA Dermatology. The LED lamps tested emitted red light with wavelengths of 630-670 nm and blue light with wavelengths of 630-670 nm. Such lamps my be purchased online. When used for 1-3 months, this phototherapy improved the overall acne appearance as well as the inflammatory and non-inflammatory lesions by 46%. The most effective devices radiated both red and blue light. The treatment had only mild side effects with skin drying, redness, and mild discomfort. Future studies will compare this light therapy with topical medicinal therapy. https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jamadermatology/fullarticle/2830694 #acne #phototherapy #led #red #blue".

The injectable microparticles are fabricated by mixing light-sensitive molybdenum disulfide, a chemotherapeutic drug such as doxorubicin, and the polymer polycaprolactone and creating films that are pressed into various micro-sizes and shapes. Using a mouse cancer model, the implanted combo particles were exposed to near infrared laser light that passes through surface tissues and excites the molybdenum to 122 degrees F while at the same time releasing chemotherapy into the tumor. This therapy eradicated all tumor and led to longer life for treated animals compared with those who received phototherapy or chemotherapy alone. This clever delivery system is in the early stages of development. With refinement, it should help prolong the lives of select cancer patients…..someday soon. https://pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/acsnano.4c07843 #mit #cancer #phototherapy #chemotherapy #nanoparticles".
