Photogravure / Heliogravure

I wanted to print this gravure in darkblue on yellow.
By coincidence I was handed some Magnani1404 Pescia Cream which was exactly what I had in mind and perfect for this print.
It was the first print done on my new Polymetaal press which was a pleasure to work with.
I also used the new hotplates I made, so I was able to keep my ink at 30°C while my plate was at 25°C all of the time.

It's hard to capture the detail of both the blind embossing print and the regular intaglio in an image.

The story behind this print is sort of a sad one.
I found the swallow lying like this in my attic. Lost, captured, behind a small glas window.
The way out was not that window, but down a dark stairs.

I pictured it as I found it, using a pinhole lens.
The blind print is a short poem I made.
