We are delighted to welcome Prof. Martin Van Hees (Dean of the Tilburg School of Humanities and Digital Sciences), who is co-teaching a course on Moral Philosophy and Justice this semester. The course opened with some foundational questions of morality, obligations and what does it mean to be doing philosophy instead of only learning it. #MoralPhilosophy #LegalEducation #PhilosophyofLaw #VUSoL

Justice is often defended as fair. That claim does a lot of work, most of it before anyone realises it’s working at all.

This essay looks at fairness and commensurability not as moral virtues, but as preconditions quietly installed so that retributive justice can function at all.

#introduction 🧵 5/6

👨‍🏫 I’ve been #teaching #PoliticalTheory at the University of #Bamberg for a good 3 years now (phew!), having joined the team of @PolTheo after returning from a Master’s at #LSE. David Axelsen and Kai Möller got me hooked on analytic #PoliticalPhilosophy and #PhilosophyOfLaw over there. Still interested in issues at the crossroads of individual #ethics and theories of #justice.

This term, I’m teaching a graduate seminar on #CollectiveResponsibility.

Since there is a whole set of new people here a new #Introduction seems in order:

Hi, I am an Assistant Professor of #Philosophy at the University of Alberta, Canada. I was born and raised in Peru where I worked as a Human Rights lawyer. Now I am a full time academic philosopher.

I share stuff in Spanish/English, here are some of my interests
