So anyway, that was pretty awful gameplay-wise, but I got through it. The sound of that robot looking for me will haunt me.

Oh great, I went down the story path I didn’t want to do.

Really don’t like when games in genre X force me to do gameplay from genre Y until I either get it right or give up entirely. Never finished Breath of the Wild because of the mandatory stealth sequence.

I’ve come across a main story that is (minorly) impacted by what side quests you’ve completed and how. That’s pretty neat to see.

Unfortunately this is my 5th or 6th play through, so I didn’t do any of them…

Ok well I guess after 2.5 years it's time to finally progress the #PhantomLiberty main story.

(I had a hardware failure 1.5-2 years ago that I wasn't too much in a rush to deal with.)

This weekend, I finished my first playthrough of #Cyberpunk2077 on my #Linux desktop. However, realized that I didn't have #PhantomLiberty installed as well.

I struggled and failed to get it installed using #Lutris. Then I deleted the install in hopes of getting it to work on a fresh one.

I switched to #Heroic after trying and failing with Lutris a few times. I will say that Heroic looks nicer and was able to fully download everything without issue. I've had problems with Lutris doing that in the past with my #GOG account.

The last attempt could load the CD Projekt Red menu, but when I clicked on the load game option, the screen went back to my desktop and it said it was running, but nothing really happened.

I saw someone suggesting that I try using #Steam by adding the game and using the GOG installers, so I might try that.

It's definitely issues like this that make gaming on Linux a chore at times.

Every time I get to this point in #Cyberpunk2077 #PhantomLiberty , I could write something about it. In all of the game, I feel this is the emotional high point of the game, ever since the DLC dropped.

At this point V has already decided that Reed is a liar, and going his route will likely end up with Songbird back with the president. "A clinic in Europe"? That's potentially the third time that V may have heard that yarn: From Anders Hellman concerning making them comfortable in the last stages, and from Tom Caldera, the boy doll in Clouds who can't quite remember if he was told that Evelyn was sent to Oslo or Osaka for a new face plate, which is obviously a lie. "Clinic in Europe" at this point should sound like bullshit. Add to that how Reed plans to go about getting Songbird - knocking her out with a sophisticated FIA toy. First, how did he get that, if not with the express intention of using it, second, how is "gaining trust" with Songbird going to work if the first act is, knocking her out? So, yeah. The conclusion is, Reed is up to his old loyalty bullshit right fucking before the op already, not because V and Songbird betray him. Side with him, Songbird goes to Washington. He doesn't even deny it directly, when called out.

Now, that's one thing, not wanting to return the personal net nuke of the tricksy president back into her hands. Sparking a war? War's in the air. If it erupts over this or a dozen other reasons doesn't matter, really. Corps and states want that war happening, and they'll find a way to make it happen.
But at NCX, before the end, we get to make another decision, with another piece of information. Will V hold true to their decision, knowing that they were mislead about a cure - artfully implied they'll get it without it ever being quite said - and walk away with empty hands, over Reed's dead body?

I have my whole chain of reasoning and feelings about this. I went through all the possible endings, to decide which of them is the one I can go with, and actually not feel like a complete dirtbag. It's still always an emotional journey, no matter how absolutely, ridiculously overpowered my characters are at this point, and make the gauntlet to the rocket a cakewalk. The real boss battle is with the emotions this still stirrs, every time.

Which is why I frequently stop for photos along the way.
Nach 50h #Cyberpunk2077 habe ich das Addon #PhantomLiberty gestartet. What a ride!
