ConnieThe Mini Box from Ratty Box arrived today (15th June, 2026). It's got a cute foraging mat, a corner hammock with streamers, some of the ball chews my girls love, and pumpkin seeds.

Blortโข ๐โ๐ฅโฃ๏ธIt's always inexpressibly harsh trying to deal with the loss of a beloved family member. I have pet rats who only live 3-4 years, but it's still like a gut punch every time one of them dies. Remember the good times. The joy they brought you. In my household we have a tradition where we like to celebrate and remember each lost loved one on their birthday each year, which really helps as the feelings of love they brought us when alive never really goes away. If that's a bit much, you can always do it once for all your lost ones, once a year. I recommend Dia De Los Muertos (the Mexican Day of the Dead), but you do you.

ocnurbFizz is about 8 months old now and today I noticed an expected change in his coat that a male puberty causes. He's gone from being ultra soft to having a little more roughness in his texture. He's still very strokable and largely happy for me to stroke him so I'm not complaining.
While their such short lives can feel a curse, getting to see them develop and grow into themselves, and then chill out as they eventually retire is also kinda lovely.
