Last #plant post of the day is also a #pest post.
We learned about #SpottedLanternflies last year. Highly invasive species here in the US. At the time, I found info from PA universities describing them, how to spot them, and how to deal with them. Later that year, we discovered loads of them all over our big tree in the front yard. Went on several killing sprees that fall.
This year, I've been noticing their young nymphs climbing up *everything*. Especially our tall goldenrod and our tall new blackberry cane. We have a young tree in the backyard to worry about this year, and I'm sure they're once again all over our front yard tree, too. Really gross.
So this year I'm gonna see about building a circle trap to put on the big tree. Found this article from the RI Dept. of Environmental Management talking all about them and including links about buying/building traps: https://dem.ri.gov/agriculture/caps-program-pests-spotted-lanternfly
