More Press!

Big thanks to Copper Star Coffee owner Bill & Melrose Kitchen owner Harmon for doing interviews on Friday with FOX10 for THIS STORY. We are also going to have some news to share in the coming weeks about our own business/neighborhood organization commissioned traffic study, as we feel it’s important to push back against Phoenix Streets Department with facts. So stay tuned for that! Over 600 people signed our petition this week which is awesome, but it’s important that we keep the momentum going, so please please please share our new website - End Reverse Lanes - with your friends, neighbors & social networks. We need volunteers for various things & you can also sign up to receive email updates. On Friday around 5:30pm, my friend and neighbor Nicole & I (she lives across 7th St. from me) were making a video about the incredibly unsafe mid-block bus stops on 7th Street by our houses. There’s not a marked crosswalk (that would be useless anyway with the rush hour reverse lanes) let alone a HAWK pedestrian light. To think that a person will walk an extra mile out of their way to cross at Indian School or Osborn (especially with no shade & triple digit temps) is completely unrealistic. While filming, we saw a woman attempt to cross 7th St. who was apparently unaware the suicide lane was in use and she was almost killed in front of us. It’s on my Twitter feed for those interested (ChampPR) and thankfully she didn’t get hit or killed, but it was a really traumatic event to witness and we both felt so helpless. It’s important to remember that not everyone in our city drives, and our streets should serve everyone. Thanks to all in advance and we deserve safe streets now.  Onward… -Msss. Champion
