Full moon this morning during the #penumbraleclipse. I could hardly see a difference, just that slight darkening toward the lower left. #moon #fullmoon

Penumbral lunar eclipses always tend to be minor events, so don't expect anything spectacular.

Predictions by Fred Espenak at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center: https://eclipse.gsfc.nasa.gov/LEplot/LEplot2001/LE2024Mar25N.pdf (PDF file).

A penumbral lunar eclipse will take place in about 12 hours from now, with the greatest eclipse at 07h 13m UTC. The southern part of the Moon will appear a little darker because of a partial obscuration of the Sun's light by the Earth.

The entire eclipse will be visible from most of the Americas. Only the start will be seen from Western Europe and Western Africa.
