Never have tried to use a pen tablet before, so getting used to it will take some time. Not that I am a good drawer at all. But it will be nice to try.

Krita will be getting some work.

Looks like my new Huion Inspiroy 2 S tablet works fine in Linux.

I needed to get the latest digimend dkms driver (i.e. git) through AUR because the 2S model was added after version 13. Xorg uses its wacom driver for it, but that's actually correct. The wacom driver is for all pen tablets, not just Wacoms (maybe they should rename it).

KDE's settings recognized it too, but the button changes I did didn't take. Turns out the kernel driver is currently doing a "let's just register all possible device types", which resulted in a lot of non-functional devices in Xorg, which confused the KDE settings to pick worng devices to configure. Adding an xorg.conf.d file to ignore everything but the pad, dial and pen devices fixed this, and now it all works as it should.

So if anyone wanted to get a pen tablet more affordable than Wacom and was worried it wouldn't work on Linux, it's pretty easy (well, if you have a little Linux experience) to get a semi-recent Huion working right.

Not often, but just sometimes, I go into my local Goodwill and find something good. Wacom DTC-133 13" tablet display. Seems to work fine. Price? $14.99! It does have a couple scratches at the bottom, but more a cosmetic problem than a functional one.

Got my new Espresso tablet in full swing tonight on my MacBook, colour calibrated and all.

Absolutely flew threw those last few photos tonight, finally a more comfortable way to edit photos in bed.
