State has a penny for your thoughts

“The United States government has stopped minting #pennies, but we can still have fun with them!”
Have you all run into retailers who no longer use pennies? If so, how do they round, and is it handled by the cash register or does the cashier have to do it on the fly?
I thought that they obviously would round to the nearest 5 and program the cash register to do it, but I've run into two retailers who round irregularly and seem to be rounding up.
It may depend on whether they have pennies that day. Apparently there's been penny shortage even before the mint decided to stop making them. And there is no clear guidance from the government, though GA has issued a document.
A penny for your thoughts: now is the time to search among your loose change for #Pennies. Banks have been asking for them as production has been discontinued. I went to a local branch with a set of rolls and they were thrilled to get some. They said their business clients have been begging for them plus they think people might be hoarding.
So take some time to unload your pennies!
Without #pennies, should #retailers round up or down? States offer their #2cents.
