I’m standing on a dirt road with my car turned off between two marshy wet lands and a little pond about 40 minutes after sunset. Mostly the video is very dark, some after sunset sky light is visible when I’m facing west.
There are so many frogs of different types talking to each other!
Peepers are back here!
They were making a real racket all during our bike ride the day before yesterday. It's so good to know that Spring is really on the way.
One of the great beacons of Spring is the sound of peepers (the frogs). The most fascinating thing to me about them is how narrow the temperature range is for them to be active. Today was a relatively warm day, but it was just cool enough for nary a peep from them. However, yesterday wasn’t a lot warmer, yet they were deafening in particular areas. If it’s too warm, you also won’t hear them.
This is the best sound to hear in Spring in Northeast Ohio, Spring Peepers!
The loudest little frogs have awakened from their long nap.
