I don't expect anyone to sit through a long podcast for the snippets of info they need, but as much as I respect Daniel Steinhardt and the entire team at TheGigRig, there are misconceptions about why people should or should not use true bypass loop switchers. They do not always improve your sound; in fact, they can degrade it, because using a loop switcher requires adding metres of cabling that would not otherwise be needed. #guitar #pedalboards

One of the problems I have with the increasing complexity of digital #guitar #bass #effects #fx #pedalboards is the amount of investment required to really be able to make an informed choice between them.

When I bought my BOSS GT-1000Core, I did so on the basis that I would be using it for digital effects, only, and not bother with the modelling features, since I already own Mesa/Boogie amps, and am very happy with my DSM & Humboldt Electronics Simplifier as an amp simulator. (…)

The new BOSS GX-1 and GX-1B #multieffects #modeler #pedalboards for $230 USD look to be nice units for home, student, or amateur musicians, even for professionals with simple requirements.

The GX-1 is too simple for my #ギター #エフェクター needs, but the GX-1B would work for my #bass #guitar needs. I already own the flagship BOSS GT-1000Core, though.

One minor downside is that although the signal chain order can be modified, the physical buttons obviously cannot be reordered.
