My favourite peanuts and peanut butter are from Kernal Peanuts kernalpeanuts.com . Until last year, I did not realize how fresh peanut butter can taste! Their 500g peanut butter uses a glass jar, if that matters to you. The contents are Ontario-grown Valencia peanuts. No salt or sugar added.

But if I add a little jam or a slice of banana - not even enough to cover the peanut butter - then everything flows smoothly. What is the cause of this strange phenomenon?
