Today there’s a party at the neighbors, and the music fills the place… but inside me, it’s a completely different world. Every sound brings back the faces of those we lost: Hamo, Israa, Areej, Sido, both of my grandmothers, Dalia, my uncle’s wife, my aunts and uncles… everyone.
I hurting. In my mind, I keep thinking of Dalia… how much she wanted to live, what she might have felt in that moment… thoughts that never leave me.
Parties are no longer joy to me… they’ve become memories

I think we had a beautiful dream: that Youssef would finish his final year of school before university and get the grades to study medicine. Then the war came, and everything changed.
