Oh shit! I might have a busted power suply in my PC!

Screen goes dark and GPU fans go 100%!

I found many post saying this is a busted psu. Thermals on GPU and CPU are fine before crashing.

Am i wrong here?

my laptop sometimes closes all open apps and then keeps closing anything else open for a few minutes. right now i'm using fedora, but it was doing that on windows too. any ideas?

Any idea what could be causing this?

It's very random, sometimes it doesn't happen for weeks, sometimes it happens every few days.

I only use this machine for web browsing.

Looks like my desktop PC has finally packed in. Had it about 10 years. Power turns on briefly and fans spin for a second then stops. Power light stays on. Have reseated everything, and removed everything except PSU, CPU, 1 memory stick and onboard GPU and same thing happens. If I pull the 12v plug from the mobo the power and fans stay on, but of course it doesn't boot. Not sure if that's relevant.

Anyone got any ideas before I bin this? Can't afford to buy a new PC at the moment. #pcproblems
