I made a free drum kit out of synthesized drumshots from various AuV3 synthesizers on the iOS platform for Patterning 2. Search for "Auv3 Drumkit" or "Dreikelvin" in the Patterning app's drum library to download it

Things aren’t always what they seem! Three #preprints together reveal that the lncRNA ivory and its microRNA mir-193, not cortex, drive melanic scale identity in butterflies 🦋

Brilliant preLight from Isabella Cisneros! 🤩

I have created another drum kit for Patterning 2 users (iOS). The sounds were created using the open-source synth "SurgeXT".

‘The miracle that disrupts order’: mathematicians invent new ‘einstein’ shape

Called ‘the hat’, the 13-sided shape can be arranged in a tile formation such that it never forms a repeating grid

Our paper builds on previous work from our group that

- introduced the 1D morphogen gradient model:

- revealed the impact of cell size on patterning precision:

- explored the effect of non-linear decay:

In a #2D #tissue, narrow #cells lead to higher #patterning #precision. The effect is not the same in both directions, though! Cells that are wider perpendicular to the #gradient than parallel to it are more tolerable. Such cell shapes are found in the #neuraltube, for example.
