"Notorious US racist allowed into UK for nazi conference

One of America’s most notorious racists has been allowed into Britain to speak at a conference staged by unrepentant nazis, several of whose followers have been jailed for terrorist offences.

Jared Taylor, founder of American Renaissance, is to be star speaker on Saturday at the Patriotic Alternative conference being held at a so-far undisclosed East Midlands location.

PA is headed by Mark Collett, whose admiration for nazis and Ulster terrorists was revealed by a Channel 4 film, and Laura Towler, who makes no secret of her admiration for the British fascist leader Sir Oswald Mosley.

Towler’s husband Sam Melia recently served a jail sentence for inciting racial hatred, and many other PA activists have been jailed for serious crimes.

Former prison officer Ash Podsiad-Sharp, is serving an eight-year sentence for terrorism offences including possession of what the court described as a 'murder manual', and PA’s 'fitness guru' Kris Kearney, was jailed in 2023 for terrorist crimes involving the manifestos of several mass murderers.

Like Collett, Kearney is an open admirer of Adolf Hitler."

I think it's important to identify people like this, but I also want to reassert that the violence in the UK in recent weeks has rightly been dubbed "the Farage riots" because it could not have happened in the absence of years of racist, anti-immigrant propaganda from the likes of Farage, Robinson, Hopkins, Patriotic Alternative, etc. This is not the work solely of one online shitposter or any small group of Telegram channels. They certainly contributed, but they are both one cause and one symptom of larger, more corrosive social dynamics.

On the encrypted messaging app Telegram, Rasanen was one of the administrators of the Southport Wake Up chat, which had 14,000 members before it was closed on 5 August. The chat was set up following the mass stabbing in Southport on 29 July and played a key role in organising the riot which took place outside a mosque the following evening.

After a list of 39 immigration-related services in England was posted with a call for simultaneous arson attacks by one of the administrators, Rasanen used his Mr.AG account to repeatedly post a guide on how to commit arson attacks in the chat. The guide was authored by the Russian-Ukrainian neo-Nazi group National Socialism/White Power (NS/WP) Crew which is designated as a terrorist organisation in Russia and linked to several murders.

The guide was titled [redacted] and included detailed instructions on how to perpetrate arson attacks, such as the types of fuel and ignition methods to use, as well as how to evade detection by the authorities. Rasanen’s publication of the arson guide alongside the list of targets indicated a desire to encourage lone wolf attacks against Britain’s immigration system in the week after two hotels housing refugees had been set alight. The arson threats prompted thousands of people to join anti-racist protests outside the targets on the list.

The Southport Wake Up chat also included calls to murder ethnic minorities, anti-fascists and government ministers. Telegram, which has a reputation for permitting neo-Nazi content, told Wired it was: “actively monitoring the situation and was removing channels and posts containing calls for violence.”

The riot followed a blizzard of false information around the attack, much of it circulated by far-right accounts online. This includes the unevidenced claims that the attacker is an undocumented recent arrival from cross-Channel migration and/or a Muslim, that the attack was “anti-white” in its motivation, and that the state and media is deliberately protecting the identity of the attacker for sinister purposes.

As tensions remain high, further protests have been announced across the UK.

A core component of the Active Club worldview is a narrative of white victimhood and attack from political opponents. These stories help motivate recruits, direct anger and empower members by making them feel like they are taking action. It also justifies violence in return. Messages by ACS make it clear that the capacity for violence is a central element of its organising. In June 2023, Scott Conner challenged members of Proud Boys Scotland on Telegram to a fight and said they would “learn the difference between an active club and a drinking club”.

Members of ACS have a history of making violent threats as well as practising martial arts, as have many others in the Active Club network internationally. The Rise Above Movement described itself as the “premier MMA club of the Alt-Right” and the Active Club network has internationally organised MMA tournaments. However, their violence is not limited to the ring. Rundo was convicted for assaulting a police officer at the Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, in 2017, an event at which the anti-fascist protester Heather Heyer was murdered. Rundo also has a conviction for travelling to political rallies to incite violence in 2018.
