How did inequalities emerge in human societies in the past, and how were they tackled or avoided? This question is the focus of this week's workshop organised by our subcluster ‘Roots of Inequalities’, which has brought experts from @universiteitleiden, @UiB, @unileipzig, #UniHamburg, Beijing (China), Copenhagen (DK), Aarhus and the @cnrs Lyon (France) to @kieluni. Today, the workshop continues with sessions on inequalities in settlements, in connection with economics and trade, and the question of what languages have to do with inequalities.

That was day 4 of the Kiel Conference 2025: sessions on current archaeological bachelor's and master's projects, human mobility, Neolithic seascapes, identities and social connections or architecture as a microuniverse of prehistoric societies, among others. This was followed in the evening by Katharina Rebay-Salisbury's inspiring keynote speech on ‘Sex, Gender and the Third Science Revolution’.
