Christmas 2025 I received some soft #Pastels from my wishlist - cue me being scared to open or use them untill today, April 2026

Mixed up rough Caucasian skin tone to paint a doll wig cap (made from white bandages & pva glue) as it was just too plain white

Learned:
- Pastels are messy!
- Pastel dust will blow away if you so much as blink near it
- Pastels: ~a little goes a long way~
- Skin tone (at least for peach /pinkish) requires a little BLUE
- I've no colour theory knowledge 🤓🤔

I have a really nice (subjective) set of ancient oil pastels that I have not touched since maybe 2006. Adult me has no ideas for drawing/painting/making anything, because I don't currently have enough skills to conceptualize things I could actually make, and also because if I'm honest I have been feeling pretty tense and repressed.

Art people, do you know of any good beginner exercises or simple projects? Or ideas to get things going? I want to play with my pastels and paints but I don't want to waste them.
