#Passing is a myth. Or, rather, the concept that one exists in a state of passing or not is a myth.

I can be walking down the street certain that the leering eyes aren't clocking me. Ten minutes later a clerk accidentally misgenders me.

Consider that there are ~0% of the world I would "pass" for if I were naked in front of them.

Yet, also, even before I started my transition I would get people referring to me by she/her sometimes.

There's no point at which suddenly "you pass". There are always going to be situations where any trans women who's put in a modicum of effort will pass.

I was trying to sort out an issue with an old account. The man behind the glass looked at my old statements, saw my old name — a distinctly male name — and then looked up at me. He looked utterly confused. He didn’t see a trans woman; he saw a woman holding a man’s paperwork.
