In other, non-depressing news: Kid #2 -- having just turned 9 -- is experimenting with foods other than ravioli, peanut butter toast, and/or scrambled eggs. Last night, she scoffed some green beans with her nug nugs, and I'm reliably informed that she loved her chicken (and vegetable) satay noodles this evening.
She seems to be taking this as a challenge, so I will too: beef mussaman (with copious green beans, carrots, potato, and other hidden vegetables) is on the menu for Sunday night.
